Mani Rimdu

This festival is celebrates in the Khumbu Region of Nepal, or you can say festival celebrates on the Lap of Everest region. It is celebrate among Sherpa community belong to Mahayana-Nying-Mapa sect by Guru Rimpoche ( Padma Sambhawa), Buddhist spiritual leader. The festival has been celebrated since 1930 AD in Tengboche Monastery.

This festival normally takes place every year in month of November on full moon, it can be changed depending upon Tibetan calendar. The time period coincides with end of harvesting work in the village hence drawing large crowds from all villagers in Khumbu region.  The monks performs masked dances celebrating the victory of Buddhism over Bon-Po religion in the region. The festival is also marked with merriment by monks as well as laymen.
